By searching all over Europe, we have managed to create a fully honest, ethical & sustainable product.
We have made it our mission to only use the best of materials, and thereby foster kindness, for the people, environment and animals being involved in the process of creating the Pialin bag.
Consciously picked leather
By spending hours on researching materials and the fashion industry, one of our main goals became to find a leather that would be environmentally friendly and contain no toxic substances.
During our research we learned that much of the leather produced today, contains heavy metals and toxins harmful to us, and our earth.
We also had the fundamental goal, to only use European leather from food waste production, and be able to trace our sourcing to the very farm our leathers come from.

We have chosen a leather that is fully biodegradable and is ensured to disintegrate in less than 30 days if left in the nature.
The leather contains no substances that would harm the earth while disintegrating, and therefore even makes the leather compostable and suitable to produce fertalizers.

To ensure circularity and kindness to all the people and animals in creating the Pialin bag, we only use leather strictly from foodwaste.
Leather is an amazing material, that can last for a lifetime if taken care of properly. Therefore we believe in not wasting any materials, but using them to their fullest for many years ahead.

Our tanning process allows us to make chromium-free leathers. Containing no harmful substances, also securing our leather to be highly tolerable for people who suffer from metal related allergies.
Traditionally chromium tanned leather can contain large quantitates of toxins such as arsenic, lead, pesticides, chromium, nickel, zinc, copper and iron.

At Pialin we believe in futureproofing from the start. Therefore we made sure to search all of Europe’s corners to find the partners we believe in long term.
Our vision was always to work with small production and family owned businesses.

Mainly we had to search for technical solutions being the right fit for our vision.

By collaborating with providers across Europe we managed to find unique hardware pieces matching the standard of our own in house innovations.

During our discovery phase we ensured only using environmentally friendly finishes for our products. Avoiding plastics to all costs.
Z I P P E R S
By requesting sample zippers from a range of providers we were able to try their functionality and choose the most durable zippers for our bags.
Vision coming alive
The vision of the Pialin bag was always to create a multifunctional bag, suitable for any occasion without compromising comfort and lasting you a lifetime.
Reaching this goal was a challenge for our small family company; in securing reliable sources & processes while still maintaining the quality we aimed for.
That’s why, the moment of assembling the materials and production processes felt magical. Where we could finally see our vision coming alive.
Handmade
All Pialin prototypes have originally been carefully crafted in the home of the designer. Then collaborated with our local producers across Europe, to create the beautiful multifunctional bag that Pialin really is.
Creative Innovation
During the early stages of producing the Pialin prototypes, innovative solutions were crafted in the original Pialin studio. Innovating on functionality like turning mechanisms, material testing and unique innovations, never seen before.

For sanitary, and long lasting considerations we have used light leather lining in our bags. Keeping it clean, and reflecting light for you to easily find the things you’re looking for in your bag.

By using traditional tools mainly used by leather shoe production, we have mastered the skills of handmade leatherworking. This allows us to pay attention to detail all the way down to the threads, holes and needles used to sow your bag.

From the start, the Pialin bag has been the result of a family driven by creativity, functionality and admiration of craftsmanship.
Pia, the bag designer grew up in a small town in the south of Sweden. Growing up she early learned the value of durable materials and authentic production, which inspired her to create a truly honest bag, accompanying you at every occasion.
